My Homebirth Checklist.

What do you need to birth at home?

Just yourself is all you really need at the end of the day BUT for comfort, convenience, and easy clean up see my checklist below from my previous home birth experience:


Waterbirth items:

  • Birth pool + liner + pump

  • Hose (food grade from Bunnings)

  • Tap adapter

  • Fish scoop or sieve

  • 2-3 Buckets

  • Tub for placenta

  • Plenty of old towels + sheets

  • Puppy pee pads or blueys

  • Drop sheets

  • Garbage bags

  • Flannels (to pop in the freezer)



Ideas for Labour Comfort:

  • Fitball

  • Tens Machine

  • Acupressure Comb

  • Homeopathic birth kit

  • Clary Sage roller, essential oil + vaporiser

  • Labourade + coconut water + Hydralyte

  • Affirmations board

  • Fairy lights

  • Bendy straws

  • Headphones + portable speaker

  • Birth preference/plan for caretakers



Post birth:

  • After birth pain tincture

  • Herbal recovery tincture

  • Peri spray + peri bottle

  • Maternity pads or diapers

  • Black undies

  • Manuka honey

  • Old fitted sheet on bed + drop Sheet afterwards

  • Blanket Stuff for baby

  • Warm receiving blanket

  • Baby diapers - newborn size

  • Crotchet cord tie

  • Welcome plaque for photos

  • Boobs (or other milk source)​

  • Yourself!
